The launch collection counts two variant lines: Gold (12, switching on with the Gold Hours Power Hour on August 22) and the brand-new Cheat Master variant (12, debut timing unconfirmed) — 12 base + 24 variants = 36 entries. An earlier FNBRIntel leak says the other Season 3 lines (Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, Quack) return later; treat those as leak until verified. Officially confirmed: every Sprite gets a blocky, backpack-style redesign. Effects and drop rates land in the drop-rate table once verified.

Sidekicks are Fortnite's existing companion cosmetic line (since November 2025): no competitive advantage, customizable, with Sidekick Points unlocking accessories. Override adds gaming-legend Sidekicks — Spyro is trailer-shown; Tails, Rush, Pac-Man and Morgana are datamined. They aren't extractable collectibles, so they don't join the Sprite checklist — the Tails you track here is the Tails Sprite.
The Sprite Garden is Season 4's island getaway: play with your Sprites, visit friends' gardens, showcase everything — Runners collection included. Season 3 Sprites live on as Mastery Pod styles, Guardian pilots and Collection entries (early reporting: not equippable in Battle Royale). Dust and Gizmos reset at the flip, as Epic confirmed. Every development we've verified. This log keeps running through launch day and beyond.
Epic's launch reveal (reported by Vice) names all 12 base Sprites — Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Jackrabbit, Klombo, 8-Bit, Crown, Adventure, Bush, Jonesy, Killswitch and Storm Scout — with abilities for every one (see the roster below; we verify each in-game at launch). With variants the launch collection counts 36 entries: 12 base + 12 Gold + 12 of a brand-new variant type, Cheat Master. Gold variants switch on with the Gold Hours Power Hour on August 22; Cheat Master debut timing is unconfirmed.
Datamined, unofficial: Bullet (ammo boxes grant more ammunition), Dumpster Dive (loot from jumping into dumpsters), Honey (spawns bees that target attackers), Pond (water speed boost; jump height and fall-damage reduction at Level 5) and X-Ray (briefly reveals players through walls). The five community Sprites still arrive mid-season, not at launch.
Servers went down at 2 AM ET for the Override update. Chapter 7 Season 3 'Runners' is officially finished: unspent Sprite Dust and Gizmos are gone (Epic confirmed they reset), and the Runners collection now lives on as Mastery Pod styles, Guardian pilots and Sprite Garden residents. Season 4 is expected live around 6 AM ET.
Cross-checked Epic's own Sidekicks announcement: they're the existing companion cosmetic line from November 2025 — purely cosmetic, no competitive advantage, Sidekick Points unlock accessories. Override adds collab Sidekicks (Spyro shown in the trailer; Tails, Rush, Pac-Man and Morgana datamined). They are not extractable collectibles, so the checklist tracks the Tails Sprite, not the Tails Sidekick.
A leaked Override key art (corroborated by dataminer HYPEX, still unofficial) adds Kingdom Hearts' Sora, Beyond Good & Evil's Jade and Roblox's 99 Nights in the Forest to the season's gaming-legends lineup.
Epic's trailer officially named the launch roster: Sonic (Spin Dash + sprint boost), Tails (hover), Jazz Jackrabbit (appears to grant an extra air jump), Klombo, Bushranger, Killswitch, Victory Crown and The Adventurer. Only Sonic's and Tails' powers are shown on screen — the rest stay unlisted here until verified.
Per dataminer FNBRIntel (via Vice): Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube and Quack all continue in Season 4, and the files point to brand-new variant types whose names are still unknown. Officially confirmed alongside: every Sprite gets a blocky, backpack-style redesign.
v42.00 downtime starts 2 AM ET on August 20; servers are expected back around 6 AM ET. The Battle Pass — Sonic at Level 85, Geno at Level 60, a customizable Tetris outfit — unlocks the moment the update drops.
12 new Sprites launch with Override: Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Jackrabbit, Klombo, 8-Bit, Crown, Adventure, Bush, Jonesy, Killswitch and Storm Scout — 36 collectible entries counting the Gold and new Cheat Master variants. Five Design-a-Sprite winners (Bullet, Dumpster Dive, Honey, Pond, X-Ray) arrive mid-season on top.
At launch: 12 base Sprites and 36 total collectible entries (12 base + 12 Gold + 12 Cheat Master variants), per Epic's launch reveal. Gold variants activate with the Gold Hours Power Hour on August 22; Cheat Master timing is unconfirmed. We verify the live count in-game and track it on the checklist.
August 20, 2026. v42.00 downtime began at 2 AM ET and servers are expected back around 6 AM ET (10:00 UTC). Downtime windows can run long, so treat the end time as approximate.
Your Runners collection carries over as cosmetics — Mastery Pod Back Bling styles, Guardian Outfit pilots, your Collection page and the new Sprite Garden — but early reporting says they won't remain equippable in Battle Royale.
At launch the collection counts two variant lines: Gold (12, activating with Gold Hours on August 22) and the brand-new Cheat Master variant (12, debut timing unconfirmed). An earlier FNBRIntel leak said all seven Season 3 lines return eventually — the launch reveal doesn't include the other five yet, so treat those as later-season until verified.
A new Season 4 island getaway where you play with your Sprites, visit friends' gardens and showcase your entire collection — including your Season 3 Runners Sprites. New Sprites you collect are added automatically.
No. Sidekicks are Fortnite's existing companion cosmetic line (since November 2025) — purely cosmetic, no competitive advantage. Override adds collab Sidekicks like Spyro, but they aren't extractable collectibles and don't join the Sprite checklist.
